Why I am not a Scientologist

I have always wondered what sinister motive the evil force, Satan, Prince of Darkness, Apollyon, Beelzebub, Lucifer, the Serpent, the Fallen Angel, Lord of the underworld, had with those mystical fantasy role-playing imaginative cultic card games. Games such as pokeymon, dungeons and dragons, and YuGiOh. As I began what I consider a serious study of Scientology the reason has become clear to me.

The mindset that one needs to except Scientology as fact is the exact same mindset one needs to play these games.

Think back to when you were young teenage adolescent. The great worries in life were ,girls, girls ,and pimples. One of your good friends would entice you to play a game of dungeons and dragons. He would assure you that he could teach you how to play the game. So you sit with him ,and three other pimply faced teenage boys ,and begin to play. At first they are talking a language that no one but themselves can understand. Then you start to pick up on some of the terms. Next you start to understand some of the rules and begin playing with your own set of cards. Of course the first few games you lose a lot of cards but then you start to understand the rules better and win some cards then lose some cards. The next day you and your friend play with some different boys. And you find that the game is not exactly the same. Some of the rules have changed, some of the values of the cards have changed, but you quickly catch on and can play with these boys. The moral to this long story is; as long as everyone around the table agrees with the rules , they can play together. Have you ever seen a fight between teenage boys about the rules of these games. It's a very comical argument. "Does the space dude have more power than the dragon thing" The truth is no one really knows, but the boys want to play and so they agree on the rules. To me this reflects a day at the office for most Scientologist. They don't care how it works, just as long as it works for them.

Where I'm coming from

I will go ahead and begin with my position. I can tell a lot about argument by knowing the background of the arguer. I’m not sure that's a correct word but you get the point. I have come to the position of a typical Conservative Christian through a not typical manner. I have actually studied and then come to my conclusions.

I tend to classify religions into subsets. The subset that I believe Scientology belongs to is . Believer of the original lie. If you would like to study the original lie you can read about it in Genesis chapter 3. Specifically in verse No. 4 and 5. N.I.V. "You will not surely die, The serpent said to the woman. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. The original lie has two parts. You can overcome death. You can be as God. These are pervasive in the world of religion. These two lies constitute the majority of apostate theology. They're very dangerous and very seductive. For me the seduction is in the control that one has over his own destiny. The traditional Christian view is

You have no control

God is in control.

You have submission

Scientologist’s believe themselves to be God

Oh the quandary

As I begin to order my thoughts for the critique of Scientology I wonder where to start. It is very difficult to pin Jell-O to a wall. The doctrine of Scientology is a bit like Jell-O. Practitioners are more concerned with the results than they are with the methods. This has been the case since their founder Ron L. Hubbard set to out to perfect his methods. He himself said he was more concerned with the outcome than he was with the methodology. I believe this attitude comes from the denial of evil. If evil does not exist then any thing we find is usable. If evil does exist then we must first determine if something is evil or good. The use of something evil for momentary gain is shortsighted at best. At worst it is a sinister plot of evil to lure you away from good. So we must begin in our critique of Scientology with the question does evil exist?

Scientology believes evil does not exist. If evil exists we must renounce all who deny evil

only evil would deny himself

Does evil exist?

Remember ,the reason this question is so important is, Scientology is not about absolute truth. Their quest is not for truth. Their quest is for results. The only answer they are looking for is, does it work for me? I consider this attitude to be evidence of a self absorber individual. I also see this as one reason for the popularity of Scientology with artist. Artists by nature are self-absorbed. I claim to be an artist , so I should know

The question does evil exist seems at first to be a simple question. Just look at the world, just watch the nightly news and you would say, evil exist. But it's not that easy we must go past the quick answer and search for evil diligently.

contrast argument

My first argument for evil is the contrast argument. Has anyone ever been to Texas in July and August? The most common thing you'll hear is "Its hot" there is only one reason why you would hear the statement. And you have to come to Texas in February to find out why "It's cold". The only way to know what's hot is to experience the cold . The only way to know its cold is to experience the hot. This is why when you're in Texas in June ,and holler, its hot!!! someone will say "just wait till August". Or on a cold morning in November you shiver and someone says "Boy what you gonna do when it gets cold". Look around you, see any good ? I have a young boy just eight months old. When I look in him I see good I believe if we were to take the time to look we would see much good. But we would not recognize good without bad. This is a simple argument but a powerful one.

.

absence of good

the next argument for evil is not the existence of a bad force but the absence of good. The best illustration to explain this line of thinking is the color black. The color black does not actually exist. The color black is the lack of reflection of light. Being able to recognize the color black is recognition of light. Even if it evil does not exist, being able to recognize evil is recognition of good and this is the same as good and evil existing in the first place I call this the figure eight track argument. It doesn't matter where you start your always going to end up there again anyway. This is a simple argument but a powerful one.

The next argument for evil is the Jeffrey Dahmer, Adolf Hitler argument. Or chop up a little baby argument.

My favorite and most powerful argument for the existence of evil is the "Chop up a little baby" argument. If we take the most extreme cases of human cruelty we can only explain these through evil. Just imagine someone taking a small child who is playing in his crib placing it on a counter and beginning to chop up the baby into many small pieces. Even if you cannot bring yourself to say this is evil for someone else you must admit that you would not partake in this activity. In your wildest imagination you cannot see reason why you would have any part of this activity. That inner sense of the wrong had to come from somewhere. I have watched animals killed their own children for many reasons. Maybe the puppy is deformed. Maybe the male baby is another males offspring. But this is commonplace in the animal world. Yet in the human world this is very rare and discouraged through social morals and laws. Why? I believe humans have a sense of good and evil. I suppose there is no perfect argument for good and evil but I would hope that these arguments are at least enough for the majority people to keep an open mind on the existence of evil. If we take the most extreme cases of human cruelty we can only explain these through evil.

Scientology believes evil does not exist. If evil exists we must renounce all who deny evil

only evil would deny himself

oh my God

oh my God is a statement we have all made here or there. We make it in a light manner but the ramifications of this statement are truly vast beyond explanation. Wars have been fought murders have been executed countries have risen and fallen on the ramifications of the three small words. a Scientologist being true to his doctrine would be accused of one half of the old joke, talking to yourself is not a problem it's when you begin to answer that you know you're in trouble. Scientologist believe themselves to be God.

WHY DOES IT MATTER

As Christians we are in a life of submission, Not a life of self

Scientologist’s believe themselves to be God
