Why I am not a Jehovah's Witness
Any time I talk about Jehovah's witness I like to tell the story of how I came to respect their work ethic. In the end I have come to believe that their work ethic comes from a desire to earn their Salvation, nevertheless they do display an impressive work ethic. I am also impressed with many other aspects of the way they conduct themselves as an organization, as individual bodies, and as individual persons. I would love to see the Christian church emulate some of the finer aspects of the Jehovah's Witness experience. Having said these positive statements about the Jehovah's witness I understand that all of the good in the world does not overcome the corrupt doctrine. At one time I took a serious look at the doctrine of the Jehovah's Witness with the intent of discovering the truth. If I had discovered the truth within the Organization of the Jehovah's Witness I believe I would have renounced my faith and associated myself with them. This would have been one of the most difficult decisions of my life, but I like to think that I am pious enough to have eaten my pride and associated myself with them. The good news is, this is not necessary for me, or anyone else.
The number one gripe I have with a Witness at my door is, they are asking you to do something they would consider a sin ,or at least disloyal, to do. They want you to read literature of another viewpoint. This has nothing to do with correct doctrine, it has to do with the rules of the game there playing. When I go door to door I would consider it unfair to only examine my material. In the realm of public debate I want all ideas to enter and win or loose on there own merit.
There are two questions you need to answer before you continue on. No.1 Do you know enough about the truth to not be swayed by a false doctrine? No. 2 Are you concerned enough about the soul of a Jehovah's Witness to make a concerted study of how to defend the traditional Christian message against the Jehovah's Witnesses unique message?
1. This is the entry-level of defending yourself against the doctrine of the Jehovah's Witness. I call it" to inoculate yourself "so you do not end up in the intensive care unit { I.C.U.} of the Jehovah's Witness doctrine.
I. impossible for Jesus to be a false prophet
C. character of the leadership of the Jehovah's Witness
U. unique translation of the Bible; the New World translation
I. In Matthew 28:20 we find the great Commission and at the end Jesus says "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. "In Matthew 16:18 Jesus tells Peter "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." Between these two verses I see in a great impossible unbridgeable gulf of Jehovah's Witness doctrine. I find no room for God's failure to provide a witness for 1800 years. The ramifications of the Organization of Jehovah's Witness coming into existence around the year 1900 is that, God had no witness on the earth for approximately 1800 years. In my estimation this fact cannot be overcome and is enough in itself to demonstrate the falsehood of the Jehovah's Witnesses doctrine.
C. Charles Russell and John Rutherford were the first two leaders of the Jehovah's Witness organization. The very best that can be said about their track record is that they made errant assumptions about when Jesus would return to the earth. I have come to believe that these assumptions are actually false prophecies. I am a realist and one thing I have come to understand is that no Jehovah's witness at your door will ever agree that this has occurred. It is an undeniable fact of history that they choose to deny. And that is why I have included it in the inoculation portion of my paper. The organization predicted Jesus return in 1914. The organization predicted a return of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and other Old Testament Princes in 1925. The organization predicted the end of human history, the end of 6000 years of human history, in 1975. I do not remember the 1914 and 1925 predictions, as a matter of fact I was not born yet. I do remember the 1975 predictions and I knew of Jehovah's Witnesses who sold their homes and took the proceeds to live out the rest of the time that was left in the working for the organization. I knew of college students who quit college in order to use what time was left to proselytize, forsaking a career because time was too short to worry about it. Now many Jehovah's witnesses can argue with me about the 1914 and 1925 dates but no one could argue with me about the 1975 date. Many people alive today testify to the fact that 1975 was a prediction of the Watch Tower organization. And this brings me to my final ingredient in our inoculation
U. If anything can be stated about the New World translation that we all agree with it is, no other translation is in agreement with the New World translation on many points of contention. These are the points that conveniently support most of their variant doctrinal issues. Many of the Jehovah's Witnesses doctrines are supported by there unique translation and their unique translation alone. When we look at the track record of the translators of the New World translation we see their inability to get a specific date correct when they are predicting the future. How can we trust their unique translation. My answer came to be after much study
we cannot
2. Moving past entry-level to any in-depth study of issues between you and the Jehovah's witness at your door. You would need to go to many sources . One of the best I have ever found is "Reasoning from the Scriptures with the Jehovah's Witness " by Ron Rhodes. Harvest House publishers. This book is fabulous for the person serious about encountering a witness at your door. Many of my arguments were fully developed while reading this book. I will go ahead and steal the format Ron uses because I have found it to be the most successful format when encountering a Jehovah's witness at her door.
no amount of Bible ping-pong
can take the place of one carefully chosen question.
My favorite question
Since the Jehovah's Witness organization did not come into existence until around 1900 does that mean that God was without a witness for 1800 years.
We have discussed the Scripture reverences that deny the possibility under the letter I in our inoculation
My next question I love is
According to Acts 1:21, 2:32, 3:15, 4:8-10, 4:18, 4:33, who were the new, or the early Christians testifying (witnessing) about? You may need to go through these verses to get the full effect of the example. So go ahead get out your Bible and check it out.
Next question please
According to the new world translation in 2 Timothy 3:16 - 17 what is needed to understand scripture? Is the awake magazine mentioned anywhere.

Can a church or a body of believers have a division and still be called a church or body believers? This is important because one of the Jehovah's witnesses main claims to authority is that their church is in unity. For the sake of argument I accept their stance. The problem is, the stance is for not. In First Corinthians 1:1 Paul begins his letter addressing it to the Church of God in Corinth to those sanctified in Christ Jesus. Then later start beating them up about being divided and having quarrels among themselves. Despite being divided having quarrels among themselves he calls them the church. In Roman's14:2-5 we find that Christians can divide on certain issues. It seems that believers almost naturally have different outlook on different issues.

Is it possible for Christ to return invisibly? Matthew 24:27 states" for as lightning that occurs from the east is visible even in the West, so will be the coming of the son of man."
This passage also tells us what type of person says that Christ has come invisibly. Matthew24:23-24 the answer awaits your reading the passage

Did the millennial reign begin in 1975?
These questions I have asked Jehovah's witnesses in different places. At my door ,and, at their door. I have never gotten an answer worth a hill of beans to any of these questions. I also found that penetrating the stronghold that the organization exhibits on their people is extraordinarily difficult to break through. Even when faced with an obvious error many choose to not see the error. Good evidence, fantastic arguments are not enough to penetrate the protective shell that has been placed over a witness. Only the power of the Holy Spirit can break through. Therefore the most important thing you need before witnessing to the witness at your door, or his door, is a personal relationship with Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit indwelling you.
